Tai Chi and Chi Kung (or Qi Gong) are two sides of ancient Chinese practices coming from
the Taoist tradition. Like Taoism itself, these practices emphasize the soft, flowing aspects of
our entire being - Mind, Body, and Spirit. Tai Chi and Chi Kung emphasize movement linked
to the breath and intention to optimize health and well-being through maximum mobility and
relaxation. Tai Chi is a fairly well known system of sequential, flowing movements designed
to accumulate and balance Chi, or intrinsic energy/life force. Chi Kung is a more repetitive
series of static poses and gentle movement often associated with Traditional Chinese
Medicine (TCM). Hundreds of years ago, they were part of serious martial arts training, but
today they are practiced for health and well being, as powerful tools for stress reduction and
increased mobility and function. Our classes have a fun and casual atmosphere while
helping you address fundamental barriers to health and happiness!!! Instructor Nick
Chevrefils has 43 years of experience teaching Tai Chi and Chi Kung. Breath work,
mindfulness and gentle movement in a relaxed environment are what to expect. Tai Chi and
Chi Kung are for everyone! Anyone who can stand will be able to perform the exercises, and
modifications for any physical restrictions are possible. Recommended clothing is anything
comfortable that will allow easy movement. Working barefoot or in socks with grips or slippers with soft sole.
