Meet The Team

KAYLA ALFRED

Hips and Meditation

I have done extensive training and research into yoga so that I can confidently teach yoga to every [space] body regardless of history or ability. My goal is to help students to find their ideal alignment not by how it looks from the outside but how it feels on the inside. Each pose taught has an intention and it may be achieved by looking drastically different from the person next to you. All folks in my classes are welcome and are encouraged to meet their bodies where they are each day. Rarely will I tell you to work harder, more likely to ask you to work softer, “do you need to push more today or do you need to rest?” not to always suggest the easy option but to give yourself what you NEED. Sometimes we need to push and work and prove to ourselves that we can do hard things. Sometimes things are hard enough and we need to give ourselves an opportunity to let go of pressure and let the weight of the world fall from our shoulders, even if it’s only for an hour.  That is what I’m here for, to help you figure out what you need and offer options to help you get what you need.

KIRSTEN MACMILLAN

Hatha/Yin/Meditation/Ayurveda

Sun Peaks and Yoga have been a part of my life for over 30 yrs., so teaching yoga on the mountain is a natural fit. The physical practice of yoga came into my life in my early teens, when I was searching to relieve my back pain, while teaching snowboarding at Sun Peaks. Later on, I became interested in understanding how we hold energy in our bodies from physical and emotional trauma. In search of a deeper understanding of the layers of the body and mind, I enrolled in an intensive 500 hr. yoga teacher training with a strong emphasis on teaching beyond the physical practice. I design a yoga practice that helps move your energy, so you can find the balance and freedom within yourself!
